Business Context

Pepsi Lipton is a Joint Venture formed between Unilever and PepsiCo to capitalise on the growth of the ready-to-drink tea segment. It is a global business worth ca. 3 billion USD today, growing volume at the rate of ca. 4-5%.

Unilever supports the Pepsi Lipton Joint Venture through the Global Ready to Drink supply chain network. This network comprises of Unilever owned Instant Tea Powder factories in Sri Lanka / India and 3rd party Suppliers who supply ingredients to Lipton Soft Drinks Ireland in Cork where concentrate kits are manufactured and supplied to the Joint Venture.

The role

The Food Safety & Quality Lead role is based at the Lipton Soft Drinks Ireland factory and is responsible for overseeing both the food safety & quality governance of on-site operations, as well as being the main quality connection between Unilever and the Pepsi Lipton joint venture. The role is focused on ensuring high standards of food safety and quality are delivered, and in shaping and driving a strong plan for longer term improvement.

The role reports to the LSDI Factory Manager.


  • Shape the vision for driving world class food safety & quality standards at the Lipton Soft Drinks Ireland (LSDI) factory and wider Unilever Global RTD supply chain

  • Drive delivery of identified improvement initiatives and longer-term strategies through active engagement with the factory team, wider supply chain and customers

  • Own the process of resolution of food safety or quality issues related to LSDI, leading root cause analysis, implementation of actions, ensure ongoing compliance and communication with key stakeholders

  • Enable the whole Quality team at LSDI to work most effectively by finding opportunities for improvement in processes with customers and external suppliers, and ensuring their delivery by the whole team

  • Lead the strategic agenda to transform traceability and quality control systems at LSDI as part of a wider ERP implementation project

  • Third party quality control laboratory ring testing and auditing

The candidate


  • Experience in Food Safety and Quality

  • Understanding of World Class Manufacturing standards and how to apply them

  • Strong stakeholder communication skills

  • Computer literacy

  • Auditor trained


  • Manufacturing experience

  • Project co-ordination/management

  • Experience of using SAP ERP or similar
